Up to now I have been feeding Matisse on Science Diet dry food, which was what the shelter had been feeding her, and they had also given me a free bag. I was planning on gradually switching to a cheaper, more accessible brand of food, such as Iams or Purina after I finished the bag though; Science Diet is already considered a "premium" type of food and is pretty expensive. Reading the ingredients label on Science Diet, however, I found that it is actually not that different from Iams'. So why pay the premium to feed the same type of food?
Then someone recommended I give Natural Balance dry food for Matisse. Natural Balance is considered a "natural premium" cat food, albeit a lower end premium cat food, and is only sold in select pet stores. It is actually not that more expensive than Iams cat food, and in some places was even cheaper than Science Diet. Honestly, the packaging itself is not that impressive and actually looks really cheap compared to other commercial cat foods. Yet, when I checked the ingredients list, it definitely seemed to have much more high quality meats than what was listed on both Science Diet and Iams. So I decided to give them a try.
And WOW, I AM NOW A BELIEVER OF ORGANIC FOOD. Seriously, I switched the food for two days now, and Matisse' coat is gorgeous! It does not shed half as much as it has before, the coat is thick, luxurious.. it is an absolute pleasure to pet. I mean, seriously, food is supposed to be very important, but who knew that the difference between animal byproducts and animal meat to be this different? Technically, they are both protein right? Apparently, there is a huge difference and now my adorable cutie is even more attractive than ever; who can ever resist to love such a cat. Except when she stares into emptiness as if actually seeing something there. THAT is kind of scary to be honest.
Anyways, excuse me, but I have to stop writing to give Matisse a little nose bump.
hahaha wow. organic food really works!
ReplyDeleteFunny, someone else I know recently also posted an entry on her blog about the different cat foods that she's tried with her cat. Apparently, cats really are what they eat!
